A journey that began with a drum…

And became a journey back to myself.

More Than A Drum

Sometimes life leads you exactly where you need to be, long before your mind can understand why.

This story began during a journey through England, back when I was still travelling and camping in my car. From the outside, it looked like any other road trip. But on the inside, everything was changing.

For the first time in years, I stopped sharing my adventures with the world and slowly turned inward instead. I spent my days meditating in my car, listening to my inner voice and filling my journal with reflections.

The Calling

Somewhere during those quiet days, one thought kept returning: I felt a strong calling to find my own shamanic drum.

For more than thirteen years, I had dreamed of owning one, yet somehow the time had never felt right. Eventually, I let the thought go. After all… how would I suddenly find a shamanic drum while travelling through England?

Around that same time, I reached out to a well-known shaman named Janosh. After a beautiful conversation, something quietly became clear. I wasn’t looking for someone else to guide me. Deep down, I already carried everything I needed.

I simply had to remember.

The Mountain

A few days later, I decided to hike the Old Man of Coniston in the Lake District. Before setting off, I made myself breakfast and a cup of coffee from the back of my car. As I sat there, overlooking the mountains, I reflected on the journey that had brought me here. Then something suddenly clicked.

I had started my travels in Scotland, where I had spent thirteen days before leaving shortly after my birthday on the 13th of June. Since then, I had travelled through thirteen different countries. Now, I was nearing the end of another journey through England… one that would also last thirteen days.

Perhaps it was only coincidence. Perhaps not. But for me, everything suddenly made sense. It felt as though the circle had quietly completed itself.

I couldn’t explain why. But I knew. Something in my life was about to change. I didn’t know what. I didn’t know how. I only knew this mountain was somehow part of it.

As I began the walk, I entered a field filled with cattle. What happened next is still difficult to put into words.

One of the cows caught my attention. As I looked into its eyes, I felt an overwhelming connection. As I looked around, I realised these beautiful animals were surrounded by one of the most breathtaking landscapes I had ever seen.

Yet one day… They would be slaughtered.

The thought hit me harder than I could explain. Tears began streaming down my face. Not only because of the animals… But because, in that moment, they became a mirror.

We can look out over the most beautiful places… Yet still live inside cages of our own making. Cages built from fear. Expectations. Old beliefs. And the stories we tell ourselves about who we have to be.

Just then, a local farmer stopped beside me. He smiled gently. “Beautiful, aren’t they?”

I wanted to answer. But the words simply wouldn’t come. The tears kept flowing.

Without hesitation, he stepped out of his vehicle and wrapped me in the warmest embrace. He told me he had grown up among these cows. As a little boy, he had spent countless hours lying beside them in these very fields. He understood exactly what I was feeling.

I told him I couldn’t explain what had been happening during the past two weeks. Only that something deep inside me was changing.

He smiled. Then he asked a question that completely took me by surprise.

“Have you ever thought about getting a shamanic drum?”

I looked at him in complete disbelief. Only a few days earlier, I had felt such a strong calling to find one. Yet I had let the thought go because I had no idea where I would ever find one while travelling through England.

He smiled once more. “Just down in the village is one of the finest drum makers in England.”

I stood there in silence. Filled with wonder. It felt as though life had gently placed one more piece of the puzzle before me.

In that moment, I knew. This mountain wasn’t simply going to be a beautiful hike. It was becoming the beginning of a new rhythm.

Not only through the sound of a drum… But through the rhythm of my own life.

The Drum

Without a second thought, I turned around and slowly walked back down the mountain towards the village.

I couldn’t stop smiling. Everything that had happened that morning felt almost impossible to explain. It was as if life was gently placing one piece after another in front of me. I felt deeply grateful. Deeply held. And completely filled with wonder.

Every encounter, every conversation and every small moment seemed to flow naturally into the next. I didn’t know where this day would lead. I only knew I wanted to keep following where it was taking me.

When I arrived at the little drum shop, the owner welcomed me with a warm smile.

“The farmer called me,” she said.

“I’ve been expecting you.”

I smiled. Even that felt like another beautiful piece falling into place.

As I looked around the shop, one drum immediately caught my attention. There were many beautiful drums. But somehow… I knew.

I picked it up and gently played my very first rhythm.

The owner smiled.

I smiled back.

Without saying much, we both felt the same thing.

“This is your drum.”

I told her everything that had happened that morning. She listened with genuine warmth and kindness, almost as excited as I was.

Before I left, she invited me to draw a few oracle cards. Then she placed a small bundle of Palo Santo in my hands.

“Take this with you,” she said.

“Light it when you reach the summit. Dedicate your drum, and make it truly yours.”

She smiled before adding,

“It’s quite a climb carrying a drum all the way to the top.”

I laughed. Nothing could have stopped me. I knew, with every part of my being, that this was exactly what I was meant to do.

The Summit

With my drum in my hands, I began the climb once more.

This time, every step felt different. It no longer felt like I was simply climbing a mountain. With every step, I felt myself letting go of an old version of me. Not becoming someone new… But remembering who I had always been.

Along the trail, something caught my eye.

A small stone.

Carved with a circle and a cross.

At first, I walked straight past it. Then something gently whispered,

“Go back.”

So I did.

I picked it up, smiled and continued my journey. At that moment, I had no idea why. Only later would I understand why that little stone would become so meaningful.

When I finally reached the summit, I lit the Palo Santo and dedicated my drum.

But if I’m honest…

It wasn’t only my drum I was dedicating.

It felt as though I was welcoming home a part of myself I had forgotten for a very long time.

As I began to play, the sound carried across the mountain.

A little while later, two women slowly walked towards me. One of them smiled and said she had followed the sound of the drum. She told me she had travelled all the way from America for one special reason.

Hidden among the rocks on this mountain is an ancient stone marked with a circle and a cross, a place where ancient ceremonies have been held for many years. Standing there, she shared how much this place meant to her and why she had dreamed of coming here.

I smiled.

“You’re never going to believe what happened earlier today.”

I reached into my pocket and showed her the small stone I had picked up along the trail. It carried exactly the same symbol.

A circle with a cross.

She looked at me in complete disbelief.

So did I.

Until that moment, I had no idea that this mountain was known for a stone marked with a circle and a cross, a place where ancient ceremonies had been held.

Once again, it felt as though another piece of the puzzle had quietly fallen into place.

To me, the symbol represented the Medicine Wheel. Since that day, I have held that stone in my hand every time I play my drum. For me, it is a reminder of where this journey truly began.

And somehow…

The sound of my drum has always felt a little deeper when that stone is with me.

Remembering

Before we said goodbye, she looked at me with a warm smile.

“Are you a shaman?”

For a brief moment, I became quiet. Not because I didn’t know the answer… But because, for the first time in my life, I truly believed it.

I smiled.

Took a deep breath.

And answered from the deepest part of my heart.

“Yes… I am.”

That day, I didn’t just find my drum.

I found a new rhythm.

Not only through the sound of the drum…

But through the rhythm of life itself.

The drum didn’t make me who I am. It simply reminded me.

And that is what every Drum Journey means to me.

Not becoming someone else.

Not searching for something outside yourself.

But remembering who you have always been.

From My Journey to Yours

What the drum opened within me is something I now feel called to share.

Not because I can tell you what you need to find, feel or understand — but because the rhythm of the drum can create a space in which you can listen more deeply to yourself.

A Personal Drum Journey is an invitation to close your eyes, step away from the outside world for a moment, and simply allow yourself to experience what arises within.

There is nothing you have to achieve and nowhere you need to go.

For some, the rhythm may bring a deep sense of calm, grounding or relaxation. For others, it may stir something that has been waiting beneath the surface. Emotions may arise. Memories, images or sensations may come forward. Sometimes an unexpected insight appears, or something suddenly feels clearer.

And sometimes… there is simply stillness.

Every journey is different.

The intention is not to interpret your experience for you, but to create a safe and intentional space in which you can listen to what may want to be felt, seen or remembered.

Your journey is yours. I simply create the space and the rhythm for you to enter it.

Your Personal Drum Journey

Before I begin, you can share what is present in your life, what you are moving through, or simply what you would like to bring into the journey. You don’t need to have a specific question or intention.

I will then intuitively create and record a personal Drum Journey especially for you, guided by the rhythm and sound of my shamanic drum.

The journey is recorded from my camper — a quiet and intimate space where the sound and vibration of the drum can fully come to life.

You will receive your journey as a private video, allowing you to experience it in your own space, at your own pace, whenever the moment feels right.

For the experience itself, I recommend finding a place where you will not be disturbed, using headphones or good speakers, closing your eyes… and allowing the rhythm to guide you inward.

A Glimpse Into a Drum Journey

For the fullest experience, use headphones or good-quality speakers, close your eyes, and allow yourself to feel the rhythm and vibration of the drum.

Personal Drum Journey

Duration: Around 30 minutes

Created intuitively and personally for you.

Every Drum Journey is created intuitively, so I don’t work with a fixed ending point. My intention is to create a journey of approximately 30 minutes, while allowing the rhythm and energy of the session to unfold naturally. This means your personal journey may sometimes be a little shorter or a little longer.
